Browsing the Internet certainly can present harm to users, especially to those in countries with oppressive governments. Shellfire VPN is an interesting tunneling program which provides a couple of free VPN servers.
The actual application of Shellfire is rather large and includes some tools for you to get started with their free VPN service. It effectively allows you to tunnel into the Internet while circumventing hackers and trouble-causers. That goes for governments, too.
Installing Shellfire VPN is not a lengthy process, though its large file size may not guarantee instant access if you're on a slow connection.
Once installation has completed, there is pretty much not much else to do except for select which network you would like to connect to (the USA or Germany). It connects via port 443.
The connection uses OpenVPN encryption and hides your IP address from region-restricted web sites. Unfortunately, the service does not support usage of popular video streaming web sites but since it's a free program and service for circumventing censorship, it can't really be expected to provide access to Hulu or Netflix.
With all of that said, Shellfire VPN is a pretty good solution for protecting your privacy. Its inclusion of both American and German VPN servers is icing on the cake!
Shellfire VPN can hide your true IP address and circumvent state censorship.Shellfire VPN features and highlights:
